Slaves Of Tiny Screens

Walking down the busy street
or running errands, the routine
everybody’s eyes are down
searching little back-lit screens.

When I am on the freeway
I can tell by how you drive
that you aren’t looking at the road
I’m shocked that I survived!

They look like you and me
with faces that familiar seem
they’re everywhere we go
these slaves of tiny screens.

Going out to meet my friends
it’s getting hard to intervene
we have so much to catch up on
yet all the talk’s about the stream.

They look like me and you
the consequences unforeseen
when there’s no interactions
except with tiny back-lit screens.

It makes me want to scream!

    1. Me too but even I am guilty although I try hard not to. I feel it’s ruined our social structure in public! People don’t know how to act anymore in person.

      1. That is very true. I had a cell phone for awhile for car troubles and other emergencies but I don’t use one anymore. I haven’t in years. I just can’t do it 🙂

        1. You are doing better than me my friend! I now have a tablet, a phone, a Chromebook and a home computer. I do use them for blogging, writing and social networks. In public I don’t walk around with my phone out it’s always in my purse and I don’t usually take my tablet with me there’s no Wifi anyway. I do well in the car too but not at home.

          1. I am on my PC too much at home. I just don’t have anything mobile. I could never afford that many items so I suppose that helps it not to take over.

I just want someone to look me in the eye. I usually just stop talking when they do that. Then they get mad.
