The Escape

The Escape

She spent every night at her open window
watching the evening spectacle unfolding
sparkling crystals and colored planets
jewels scattered across a velvet canvas.
No more would she have to live without him
if only she could escape this drab existence.
Searching for a falling star to wish upon
a bright moving object caught her eye
it darted quickly around the moonless sky.
Watching it draw closer she couldn’t look away
a blinding shaft of light appeared around her
the beam lifted her up towards the silver disk
as her cat looked on, she was gone.
