Seven Years Of Bad Luck
Seven years of bad luck
I broke the mirror
and now I’m stuck
seven years of misery
a devastating history
if I could make it up I would
but now it’s done
won’t do no good
I broke the mirror
and though it sucks
it’s seven years of bad luck.

Written for the prompt reflecting on mirrors with my friends at dVerse~Poets Pub. Breaking a mirror can be a problem if that’s what you believe.

7 years somehow seems an appropriate duration (not too long nor too short) for some ‘elves’ to do mischief. Perhaps that’s the reason why it conveniently gets quoted

I hope it is seven years of good luck.

I don’t really believe in this saying but leave it to you to be the optimist, Frank. Thank you!

playful little ditty and verse, and yet for many, it rings true, which makes one wonder, if the mind, as portent and powerful as it is, is so completely open to suggestion …

I think so, Wildchild. We are a weak race. Thank you!

I would hate to break a mirror… even if I don’t believe in seven years of bad luck unless you dance barefoot on the shards 🙂

I don’t like cleaning up broken glass at any time you never find it all the first time and then you do step in it!
