I Scream
Darkness led me into sin
cause I invited Darkness in
my loneliness drove me astray
and I had thought it child’s play.
Wrapped inside his macabre wings
I heard the Darkness whispering,
”You’ll never be away from me,
with me for all eternity.”
The Darkness knew me like a glove
replacing hate where once was love
chuckling as it emptied me
drinking deep with empathy.
If I had lived the way I should
if I had stronger will I could
but Darkness won and reigns supreme
and I? I scream a mouthless scream!

I wasn’t sure if it should be soundless and then mouthless came into my head. Even worse! Thank you, Sumana!

Dark and frightening. We all have free will and choose the path we take.

Our free will can be whittled down depending. Thank you!

Yes, it is and so is the Darkness I speak of. (You see I capitalized it.) Lol!

Horrifying to imaging but beautifully written. Glad I am reading this in the morning so I should not have nightmares tonight!

I don’t want to give you nightmares! Although yours are probably romantic somehow. Lol!

I am reminded of the two sides of every coin. Light and dark, we are as we are.

Yes we are, but don’t tip too far one way it could get away from you. Lucky this was just fantasy. Hee hee!

This is an interesting response to the prompt…….I can well imagine one who lives in darkness would have an inner scream……..well described…..
