Truth

Truth

Dust particles dance
within a shaft of sunlight
slowly crossing the room
traveling over my body
warm and comforting
like a lovers embrace
to the mirror where I stand
contemplating my mortality
the sun has become harsh
I raise a hand in denial.

We are writing about mirrors this Wednesday at Poets United where I’ll link up then.

Reasons

Reasons

There are reasons for our seasons
as we watch for yearly clues
in the summer we have flowers
multicolored meadows viewed.

Then the trees turn glorious colors
dying leaves fall to the ground
before the burning bonfires end
winter’s come without a sound.

When the Crocuses start blooming
and I heed the robin’s call
spring will bring her wondrous renewal.
Good reasons for us all.

I wanted to write a poem about the seasons while naming them within the poem. There were a few versions of this before I finally got the words the way I wanted them and I’m happy with the way it turned out.

A past musing shared with my friends at Poets United.

the kindness of strangers
the world relies on it-
we should not retreat

I coded this artwork so it’s different than my usual work.

I wrote this for Gillena’s CKK Anniversary kukai 2017 (retreat), Poet’s United (the kindness of strangers), and shared with Imaginary Garden Of Real Toads (the Tuesday platform.)

Different As Night And Day

Different As Night And Day

All the good and bad they weathered
night and daytime ruled together
then one day they had a fight
the moon got mad and shined too bright
it pushed the sun out of the way
and then decided to steal the day.

The jealous sun its anger bright
took back the daytime from the night
the Gods stepped in to end this fight
and straightened out this perilous plight
the moon felt sad the sun was lost
the sun felt bad that lines were crossed.

Now night and day ruled peacefully
while dusk and dawn meet frequently
the stars doth shine until the day
comes sauntering back to get its way
sun and moon now regulated
for all time they’re separated.

A blast from the past shared with my friends at Poets United. I originally wrote this for a friend, Cat whom I’ve known online for over 10 years, she likes these kinds of fantasies.

A Different View

A Different View

The rain falls on my canopy
a pitter-patter so serene
time gets lost inside these woods
where everything is mossy green.

Once the storm has taken hold
illuminating the darkening sky
animals escape to their cozy dens
they run for cover, but not I.

I drink deeply of this gift
rainy weather won’t phase me
I patiently wait for the sun’s return
to grow into a bigger tree.

The art is mine called Magic Forest. Covering prompts 2 and 3, with Imaginary Garden Of Real Toads and shared with Poets United.

To My Writing Groups

I had a flood in my kitchen and hallway after workmen next door broke the cold water pipe. I’ve been busy with it all week and unable to participate in our writes. I also had a flat tire on my bike I had to get fixed. When stuff happens it’s all at once.

I didn’t get to do much reading for any of my links (only some), or write for Saturdays Image Write this week. I will make that up this weekend and post new images for tomorrow as usual.

I’ll be back tomorrow for our writes again I’m finally done with the mess. Hope you all had a better week. I just wanted to let you know.

Big hug! Bekkie

Writer’s Block

Writer’s Block

My book it lies unfinished
that sentence dangling there
the words remain extinguished
it’s like my thoughts are bare.

My first book came so easy
the money made now gone
the blank page makes me queasy
my writing just looks wrong.

I meant to write a story
a word, a phrase, a quote
I wanted all the glory.
One word is all I wrote.
