My Bicycle

My Bicycle

Everywhere I go
it goes too
it keeps me healthy
I’m never blue.

Two rubber wheels
they take me far
there’s no pollution
unlike a car.

It feels like flying
my spirit’s free
wind in my hair
the birds chase me.

It’s good for most everyone
young or gray
practice makes perfect
today’s the day!

My bicycle
can’t be outdone
it keeps me young
while having fun.

I took this selfie in a mirror window I pass by during my rides on the Bay Trail in the San Mateo, CA area. I bike 20-30 miles every other day taking photographs of nature it keeps me happy, healthy and young. If you’re interested in biking, my photos of the Bay Trail or health tips check out my website Bike With Bekkie.

Written with pleasure for my friends at Poets United. Thank you, Susan! Also linking to my friends at Imaginary Garden Of Real Toads.

This picture was taken of my brother and me on Easter of 1963 in our living room in Michigan City, Indiana before church. That hair! Look at those legs I was a real Tomboy growing up.

My mom always got us new clothes for church on Easter and often made them herself. She made both of our outfits that year I loved that dress and apron. Good memories here!

Happy Easter Sunday to all of my fellow poets at Poets United! This isn’t linked to Imaginary Garden Of Real Toads or dVerse~Poets Pub but this is for all of my friends I write with.

Different

Different

We’re different it’s plain to see
if you say why I say I don’t know
I say it’s you, you say it’s me
if I say stay then you just go.

If I see you and say hello
you look at me and say goodbye
if I say high, then you say low
all I can ask is why, oh why?

I tell you yes, you say oh no
why must it always be this way?
When I say fast then you go slow
I say good-night you say good-day.

I don’t know why you say goodbye
our conversations make me cry.

Writing an English pop sonnet based on a popular song from my past with dVerse~Poets Pub. This band was very popular in the 60’s and I’d like you to guess but the answer is here. The artwork is one of my animations untitled.

Spoken Word

Spoken Word

Performed live for a hungry crowd
poetry spoken, read aloud
written words turned into sound
voices raised in prose astound.

Rhymes and stories rein sublime
my heart is beating overtime
I struggle to bring my muse alive
by spoken words that I provide.

A blast from the past about how I felt reading my poetry to other people. The animation is from my photographs of the Bay Trail.

Old Library Book

Old Library Book

Words in binding
fact reminding
maybe rhyming
perfect timing
plot defining
how-to guiding
new word finding
worlds unwinding
masterminding.

The End-I’m smiling!

My first experience with books was in the library at my grade school. I think I read every book they had about horses. Of course in class, it was Fun With Dick And Jane. Libraries have changed through the years but they still hold countless stories, art, poetry, history, and more. All you need is a library card and it’s yours for the taking. Don’t forget to return your book!

The artwork is Storybook by Schnette on Deviantart. Linked with Poets United.

Kiss Of Death

Kiss Of Death

So beautiful and rare
in death a kiss so fair
it makes the corpses jealous
their eyeless sockets stare.

An eternity in your arms
my angel wings boned bare.

Another blast from the past (something a little different) shared with Poets Untied. This is a wallpaper meant to be shared and had no artist information like most wallpapers found to share online.

Feeling Foolish

A modern interpretation of the Tarot Fool card.

Feeling Foolish

A businessman balanced on the tip
took a look and then started to slip
he just couldn’t see
he was already free
if only he’d gotten a grip!
