The Cook

The Cook

Tomatoes, potatoes carrots and peas
we have leeks, mushrooms and parsley
all I need is to check the meat
sit down, relax, it’s time to eat.

Onions, bay leaf, salt and pepper
just enough to season well
we have the bread and the table’s set.
Now what ingredient did we forget?

You said my cooking was divine
you’d trade your right arm for a taste
well I will serve it on a platter
an arm or a leg it doesn’t matter.

The meat is falling off the bone
too bad, you won’t enjoy this feast
that’s right your fate is firmly sealed
as I sip wine with my lovely meal.

The End

The End

Hat crammed onto my head I walk
the streets. Nowhere to go now we have failed
ourselves for the last time. Elbowing through dirty
crowds of lost souls, I trip over a warm groaning body.
Sweating and feeling not unlike a corpse myself
I contemplate the glaring truth; we are all
beyond help. Finally, I spy the
park! Amazingly it’s
quiet here most
seek the
churches.
On my
bench
I sit
alone.
I can
see
the
end
from here
as I watch the mushroom cloud blossom.

Nobody Knows

Nobody Knows

You liked him on Facebook
you sent him a Tweet
you follow on Google
in chat rooms you’ll meet.

You re-share his posts
and know him quite well
but he has a secret
that he’ll never tell.

For he’s a real dog
and he’s fooled everyone
and no one will guess
cause his secrecy’s won.

So next time you see him
he will not disclose
online he’s a dog
but nobody knows.

Face Value

Face Value

Tolerantly I watch your face
searching for some information
looking for the slightest change
probing for an indication
waiting for the final phase
noting every single line
when your hands point me the way
finally, I have the time.

Treasure Tale

Treasure Tale

In days of old when ships did sail
across the ocean broad and blue
the Vikings came to St. Ninian’s Isle
where rape and pillaging did ensue.

In Shetland nineteen fifty eight
a discovery found that changed the deal
a re-discovered medieval ruin
is where they found the Pictish seal.

He found a slab marked with a cross
a wooden box all sealed up tight
and when the contents were reveled
a silver-glint shown in the light.

A treasure found beneath a church
or was it buried by the Viking’s hand
the silver hoard of aristocrats
found on Scotland’s bonny sands.

Swinging

Swinging

The breeze
                    caused by my
                                             movements caressing my body
                                  to
and then fro.
                       Imagined fingers

exploring lightly like
                                   a lovers
                                                 touch.

Errant hairs
                     tickling
                                  my face and neck.

I swing
             to
                 and then fro
                                        as the Autumn afternoon wanes.

Not a cloud
                    in the sky
                                     I'm thinking of you.

Thinking of you
                            touching me
                                                   and effortlessly
I fly.

There Once Was A Man

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump gestures and declares

There Once Was A Man

There once was a man name of Trump
who was acting like kind of a chump
he wants to build walls
and make them real tall
so Mexicans can’t make the jump.

There once was a man name of Trump
whose campaign just hit a large bump
he says senseless things
the bad news it brings
has put him in kind of a slump.
