The Boom Boom Boom

The Boom Boom Boom

I feel the bass
############EXPLODING
through my body
###############with the boom
#########boom
###############boom.

As the electric guitar
##################SCREAMS
#######over the notes
of the opening song.

The music SMELLS
#####like an alleyway
in San Francisco

####where you get a BUZZ
########just by passing by.

The people stand
#####in lines
############waiting
at the venue
and the music
#############SPILLS
#################outside
into the streets.

So
#####singular
and beautiful
############the notes

#####as they CASCADE

###############down.

Bouncing
#########off the buildings
with the bass
############EXPLODING
########with the boom
##boom
########boom.

Get Your Groove On

Get Your Groove On

Spinning the grooves to move
a shindig you can’t miss
shag carpeting pulled back
come on let’s do the Twist!

Don’t be a drip, come shake those hips
and get those feet to work
feel that booming bass entice
come on let’s do the Jerk!

Mini skirts and paisley shirts
new dances all the craze
when I get my groove on
it’s a Keep On Truckin’ day.

I felt like something light and fun this week so I’m sharing an oldie of mine about the oldies from Magpie Tales written for that dancing prompt I animated. Shared with my friends at dVerse~Poets Pub.

Bodybuilders’ Ballet

Bodybuilders’ Ballet

Feet encased in satin slippers
dancing ‘cross the room on tippy toes
asks for help with the tutus zipper
then steps onstage into the lights
an attitude in perfect form
ripping his tights wide open
exposing reddening cheeks on both ends.

attitude

In ballet, an attitude has nothing to do with your personality. Actually, an attitude is a pose, a way that a dancer can hold herself. In order to perform an attitude, a dancer must balance herself on one leg while holding the other leg at a 90-degree angle in a curved position. The raised leg can either be held to the back or the front. The arms of the dancer usually remain in fourth position, curved, one arm above the head, and one arm to the side.

I picked the title: 1. Bodybuilders in Tutus and 35 Other Obscure Business-Boosting Observations, by Philipp Lomboy, to write my humorous (I hope) micro-poem for Imaginary Garden Of Real Toads.

The Dance

The Dance

Lovely music fills the room
attraction wafts like fine perfume
ladies waiting for their chance
will he, won’t he, ask to dance?

There she stood against the wall
beautifully vulnerable at the ball
watching; how she longed to dance
if only someone took the chance.

Couples dancing close and slow
the moon was shy and dipping low
her eyes they met a young man’s glance…
take a chance, please take a chance.
