I still love you after the fevered flesh has cooled
after the earth-shattering build to the summit
I’m oblivious to all else when in my frenzy
but the two of us, between sheets sublime.
I love the delirious delicious decadence of our intimacy
goosebumps on my skin when you touch me
I am certain no one will ever love me this much
then I watch my lover leave a stranger.
I love you like a dog loves to get scratched where it can’t reach
tongue exposed, slobbering and exposing myself
whimpering for more when you stop.
We never talk about our lives outside of the hotel room
rose-colored glasses are what I choose to wear
living in an altered sense of consciousness as lovers, not friends.

The artwork is mine from a photograph taken while riding my bike put through a filter and animated.
For dVerse~Poets Pub, we were told to write a free verse sonnet. I am used to rhyming so I hope this will do. This is about a man I once thought I’d spend some time with but great sex does not a relationship, make.
They wanted something different
a pet that could talk to them
so into the lab the scientist went,
just what the hell did he invent?
They say 2 wrongs don’t make a right
combine them right and you just might
but when the babies came that night
they were not a beauteous sight.
The idea was dogs and humans cloned
the babies were ugly, clean to the bone
when one spoke up in a baritone,
“Which one of you will take me home?”

I recycled “Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes clean to the bone.” Dorthy Parker and “Two wrongs don’t make a right.”

watching the sunset
fog sneaks in over the bay
on tiny cat feet
under small bushes
the cat becomes a panther
silently stalking prey
ignored by a cat
nothing makes one feel
a peaceful heart
a happy cat
words left unspoken
leaves things broken
cat got your tongue?
coming in late
look what the cat dragged in
don’t blame the cat
stroking a cat
the best relaxation
a furry zen master
a cat has nine lives
we only go around once
make it count
a beloved cat
is man’s best friend
the dog would argue

For he’s a real dog
and he’s fooled everyone
and no one will guess
cause his secrecy’s won.
So next time you see him
he will not disclose
online he’s a dog
but nobody knows.
