Black Apple

sliced black apple on a black background with a slice

Black Apple

The exotic woman extended her hand
in it was a black apple
the black apple was a rarity
he had never seen one
the temptation to take it was powerful.
She took out a bejeweled knife
quickly slicing the fruit open
removing one perfect slice.
He winced as he watched the juices run
the whiteness inside the cut was erotic
it caused a strong stirring in his loins.
In an instant, he was upon her
but it wasn’t her body he dominated.
She lay dead as he examined his treasure
already the vulnerable white flesh
bruised and tasting sour.
His melancholy was ripe
as he fled defeated an utter failure.
In his passion and haste, he never found out
where to find the black apple.

I used some dream meanings I found for black and apple. Written with my friends at The Sunday Muse #99 for this image prompt.

Also linking up with dVerse~Poets Pub for Meet the bar and listen to lists. I often do this for my poetry. For this image, I used a list of words from my search of dream meanings for this poem and everything dropped into place. Now I have a lot of reading to catch up with!

A Four Letter Word

A Four Letter Word

Love.
It’s
a four
letter word
that leaves us wanting.
It gives us such heavenly bliss
we taste its sweet nectar on our lips and lose ourselves.
We move together as one and become drunk with love while acting out our passion play.
Writhing in tangled sheets, we know no boundaries as we come together and experience the ecstasy of a simple four letter word.

Happy Valentine’s Day! I just got over being sick again this year. I missed some writes and reading of takes but I’m feeling much better now. Thanks for your patience!

I decided on a Fibonacci for the prompt word at Poets United this week. I’m also linking with the Imaginary Garden With Real Toads for the Tuesday Platform.

Lines And Wrinkles

Lines And Wrinkles

I found a photograph
taken on my behalf
it was a moment seized
for which I’m unappeased
showing off my age
it sent me in a rage!

My eyes to me looked glazed
my wrinkled skin amazed
I hold to this belief
age causes most my grief.

Written for the prompt reflecting on mirrors with my friends at dVerse~Poets Pub. When I think of mirrors I can’t help but think of aging.

Lust/Love Sonnet

Lust/Love Sonnet

I still love you after the fevered flesh has cooled
after the earth-shattering build to the summit
I’m oblivious to all else when in my frenzy
but the two of us, between sheets sublime.

I love the delirious delicious decadence of our intimacy
goosebumps on my skin when you touch me
I am certain no one will ever love me this much
then I watch my lover leave a stranger.

I love you like a dog loves to get scratched where it can’t reach
tongue exposed, slobbering and exposing myself
whimpering for more when you stop.

We never talk about our lives outside of the hotel room
rose-colored glasses are what I choose to wear
living in an altered sense of consciousness as lovers, not friends.

The artwork is mine from a photograph taken while riding my bike put through a filter and animated.

For dVerse~Poets Pub, we were told to write a free verse sonnet. I am used to rhyming so I hope this will do. This is about a man I once thought I’d spend some time with but great sex does not a relationship, make.
