Romantic Keys

Romantic Keys

Going solo is never easy
he didn’t have time to orchestrate
their meeting impromptu
the right keys were struck
their lovemaking an improvisation
his technique professional-
yet expressive.

She called him a virtuoso
it was like a fantasy
he felt it was reminiscent of a song
delicate nuances were there
but he was unprepared for romance
he preferred to play solo.

I looked up Frédéric Chopin (because it was on the music sheet) and seeing the beautiful woman by the piano decided to use the words I found about him and his music for a “found poem.”

They

They || always have the last say
they || said so
they || are experts in every field
they || have it better than you
they || have what you want
they || know it all
they || know when you are sleeping
they || know when you’re awake
they || have it all figured out
they || always know the right words
they || always win
they || told me to do it
they || make the rules
they || are reading this now.

It’s always about “they” but who, or what are they?

The Town Of Yore

The Town Of Yore

Brown brick buildings
lining the lane between
the path overbear
by feet too many to count.

It’s gloaming time
the walkways forlorn
encompassing the town
empty but for a toss-pot.

The town of yore waits
for dark to hearken it’s history
echoes of remembrance lurking in stone
if only we could hear them.

I animated this image from Google search of the town of Yore in the UK. A toss-pot is a drunk, and gloaming is another word for twilight.

Written with dVerse~Poets Pub for the prompt urban renewal. This is a place I just picked, I’ve never been. It’s a very old town with lots of history. One day I would love to visit the UK or just get to go overseas.

This senryu was written about this image which was a prompt for Magpie Tales that I animated with hearts. That is Taylor and Eddie.

Super Duper Blue

Super Duper Blue

The moon plays tricks
with a lunar eclipse
eyes to the skies
the full moon comes soon
twice this month is nice
number two is blue
tipping and slipping
under the earth’s umbra
invitingly in syzygy
this blood moon makes us swoon.

© Rebecca Sanchez 2018

A Blue Moon is when two full moons happen in the same calendar month; lunar eclipses occur when the moon passes into Earth’s shadow; and supermoons happen when the moon’s perigee — its closest approach to Earth in a single orbit — coincides with a full moon. In this case, the supermoon also happens to be the day of the lunar eclipse.

The second full moon and the lunar eclipse will occur on the night of Jan. 30 or the morning of the 31st. And the supermoon will take place on the night of Jan. 30, which is technically one day before the moon reaches peak fullness, but even NASA is willing to call the event a supermoon nonetheless.

I watched it last night on my patio it was awesome! My picture isn’t great, but it’s the only camera I had. This was when the moon was fully eclipsed and blood orange.

Written with my friends at Poets United for the prompt moon. Also, shared with my friends at Imaginary Garden With Real Toads.

Different

Different

We’re different it’s plain to see
if you say why I say I don’t know
I say it’s you, you say it’s me
if I say stay then you just go.

If I see you and say hello
you look at me and say goodbye
if I say high, then you say low
all I can ask is why, oh why?

I tell you yes, you say oh no
why must it always be this way?
When I say fast then you go slow
I say good-night you say good-day.

I don’t know why you say goodbye
our conversations make me cry.

Writing an English pop sonnet based on a popular song from my past with dVerse~Poets Pub. This band was very popular in the 60’s and I’d like you to guess but the answer is here. The artwork is one of my animations untitled.

Hitler’s Bathtub

Hitler’s Bathtub

I dreamed I took a bath in Hitler’s bathtub
he told me it would be better than taking a shower
I got a fluffy towel instead of an unmarked grave.

War correspondent Lee Miller taking a bath in Hitler’s own bathtub, inside his abandoned apartment. The photo was taken on the same day that Hitler committed suicide. Munich, Germany – April 30, 1945. I got this image from a Google image search wrote about and animated it.
