Black Apple

sliced black apple on a black background with a slice

Black Apple

The exotic woman extended her hand
in it was a black apple
the black apple was a rarity
he had never seen one
the temptation to take it was powerful.
She took out a bejeweled knife
quickly slicing the fruit open
removing one perfect slice.
He winced as he watched the juices run
the whiteness inside the cut was erotic
it caused a strong stirring in his loins.
In an instant, he was upon her
but it wasn’t her body he dominated.
She lay dead as he examined his treasure
already the vulnerable white flesh
bruised and tasting sour.
His melancholy was ripe
as he fled defeated an utter failure.
In his passion and haste, he never found out
where to find the black apple.

I used some dream meanings I found for black and apple. Written with my friends at The Sunday Muse #99 for this image prompt.

Also linking up with dVerse~Poets Pub for Meet the bar and listen to lists. I often do this for my poetry. For this image, I used a list of words from my search of dream meanings for this poem and everything dropped into place. Now I have a lot of reading to catch up with!

Seven Years Of Bad Luck

Seven Years Of Bad Luck

Seven years of bad luck
I broke the mirror
and now I’m stuck
seven years of misery
a devastating history
if I could make it up I would
but now it’s done
won’t do no good
I broke the mirror
and though it sucks
it’s seven years of bad luck.

Written for the prompt reflecting on mirrors with my friends at dVerse~Poets Pub. Breaking a mirror can be a problem if that’s what you believe.

Slaves Of Tiny Screens

Slaves Of Tiny Screens

Walking down the busy street
or running errands, the routine
everybody’s eyes are down
searching little back-lit screens.

When I am on the freeway
I can tell by how you drive
that you aren’t looking at the road
I’m shocked that I survived!

They look like you and me
with faces that familiar seem
they’re everywhere we go
these slaves of tiny screens.

Going out to meet my friends
it’s getting hard to intervene
we have so much to catch up on
yet all the talk’s about the stream.

They look like me and you
the consequences unforeseen
when there’s no interactions
except with tiny back-lit screens.

It makes me want to scream!

The Cybernaut

The Cybernaut

She didn’t play well with others
she had some abnormalities
she didn’t like the real world
she believed in her own reality.

She built herself a firewall
that no one’s ever breeched
obsessive-compulsive screen addiction,
a woman very hard to reach.

She only has eyes for the avatars
she won’t even meet you halfway
she already has what she’s after
on her Apple computer’s display.

Lady Luck

imageedit_9_7934725221_thumb[1]

 Lady Luck

We love to flirt with her
we want her on our side
but lady luck will jinx you.

She makes sweet love to you
as the slot machine handle gives,
or the dice fall on 11.

As the winnings increase
she leaves you feeling intoxicated
and wanting more.

Now you’re a firm believer
you can do no wrong
as long as she is smiling.

She takes coins from your mother’s purse
she takes food from your baby’s mouth
she takes all.

When you have nothing left
leaving you broke and broken
she leaves you flat.
