haiku #32818

the warmth of springtime
payment for a long winter
life awakening

the big thaw come spring
good things come to those who wait
it pays to be patient

during Eastertide
I visit dead relatives
to pay my respects

The image is my photography animated from my bike rides on the Bay Trail in San Mateo, CA.

A trio of haiku written with Haiku Horizons for the prompt pay.

Beneath A Tree

Beneath A Tree

When I sat beneath a tree
ruminating memories
something basic came to me.

Trees will never disagree
know the sum of one plus three
change their sexuality
or wonder whether they are free
own a home or property
or worry ’bout the world we see.

The smell of earth was heavenly
shadows fell like filigree
the quiet air of mystery
the bark that tells a history
all slowly growing peacefully
it made me thankful just to be.

Written with my friends at Poets United for the prompt “peace.” The art is a photograph of mine taken on the Bay Trail, put through an art filter and animated.

Plastic

I’m artificial and insincere
don’t know how long
I’ve been standing here
flexible yet oh so fake
of food or water, I don’t partake
no attention comes my way
I’m in the dark yet on display
with plastic stem and pseudo leaves
I never question or disbelieve
in my corner where I stay
a bogus plant by night or day.

my thoughts like a whirligig
spinning petals of joy
