Goodbye Bruce

Goodbye Bruce

He had it all but was empty inside
accomplishing much but yet living a lie
an ongoing book that had pages to hide
now she’s the one in the public’s eye.

A handsome man and a top athlete
a public life filled with private grief
just ’cause you’re different it doesn’t delete
yourself intact-you look for relief.

Why do the Kardashians seem so surprised
the clothes and the clues were all there to see
no longer happy with gender disguised
Caitlyn begins her own history.

I have seen and read all about Bruce Jenner’s recent change and magazine cover. Caitlyn at 65 looks marvelous but it’s just an illusion that I find sad when realized it’s just the work of some well-paid doctors. I’m more interested in what doesn’t meet the eye and wish Caitlyn well.

First published today and shared with Poets United for the prompt gender. Many people are confused about gender these days. I can’t pretend to know what it’s like as I’ve always known I am a woman.

the kindness of strangers
the world relies on it-
we should not retreat

I coded this artwork so it’s different than my usual work.

I wrote this for Gillena’s CKK Anniversary kukai 2017 (retreat), Poet’s United (the kindness of strangers), and shared with Imaginary Garden Of Real Toads (the Tuesday platform.)

All Lives Matter

All Lives Matter

We have a problem
a lack of control
no damn respect
it’s taking a toll.

Police should protect
uphold the peace
do the right thing
shootings must cease.

Murder in the streets
the people are scared
the unarmed killed
lawmen impaired.

Citizens taking
the law in their hands
acting like terrorists
we must take a stand.

People picking sides
prejudice must end
dividing by color
the message it sends.

There’s power in numbers
we all must unite
Americans together
protecting our rights.

All lives matter
no matter the race
whatever the color
wherever the birthplace.

An absence of conscience
we need to stop now
killing one another
we just can’t allow.

Identity

What’s your password and username?
So much information to retain
to me, it’s undeniably clear
we’re being controlled by mad puppeteers.

A barrage of strangers asking me
extremely private questions-constantly
I’d like to find a better way
if only I’d lived in another day.

An innocent time when life was good
when one still lived in their neighborhood
the internet was still a dream
and people relaxed by real streams.

My parents said life then was hard
but now I’m judged by credit cards
a government that has no clue
and I take it all like a proper fool.
