The Twist
I took the bait
a twist of fate
there was too much
heaped on my plate
it’s now too late
to clean the slate
the twist it made
me turn to hate.
A real bad trait
I’m that low-rate
in a terrible state.

The rhyme was refreshing! A clear reminder of how easily we can be drawn into dark places where we lose ourselves.

And then it makes us feel so bad, it can be a bottomless pit. Thank you!

As bad as hate is we all fall into that trap at some point in our lives.

Thank you so much, I do like to write poems that rhyme probably better than free verse.

Sounds like you were backed into a corner of your own making with too much on your plate, Bekkie. The outcome is no fun!

When pushed into hate most of us do feel bad sometimes even chiding ourselves like this. Thank you!

Remorse at decisions made in one’s naivety! I don’t think it’s silly. Rather well put.
