Watching me
watching you
pupils dilate-
peekaboo!

Eyes that judge
fill with tears
smiling eyes
eyes that fear.

Expressive eyes
when words may fail
kiss with a look
they tell the tale.

Showing the world
how we feel
windows to the soul
secrets revealed.

Body language
has nothing on eyes
what you see inside
can’t be denied.

Written with my friends at The Sunday Muse #98 for this image prompt. While writing this I had to fight the urge to Dr. Seuss out. To be fair, I also had the David Bowie song Eyes Without A Face in my head so I’m lucky I came up with this. Lol!

Unique

Unique

I like you cause you’re funny
intelligent and kind
good looking and hardworking
so distinctive, so refined.

I like you cause you’re honest
irreplaceable and rare
an exceptional type of person
the one who always cares.

I like you cause you’re different
it’s part of your mystique
you are just one of those people
so refreshingly unique.

Today is open link night at dVerse~Poets Pub and I’m sharing an older poem that could well be a greeting card for a friend. The image is an animation from a Google search.

A Four Letter Word

A Four Letter Word

Love.
It’s
a four
letter word
that leaves us wanting.
It gives us such heavenly bliss
we taste its sweet nectar on our lips and lose ourselves.
We move together as one and become drunk with love while acting out our passion play.
Writhing in tangled sheets, we know no boundaries as we come together and experience the ecstasy of a simple four letter word.

Happy Valentine’s Day! I just got over being sick again this year. I missed some writes and reading of takes but I’m feeling much better now. Thanks for your patience!

I decided on a Fibonacci for the prompt word at Poets United this week. I’m also linking with the Imaginary Garden With Real Toads for the Tuesday Platform.

Nuns And Sunflowers

Nuns And Sunflowers
(My tribute to Fellini.)

A long afternoon spent
in a field of ripe sunflowers
my faded picnic blanket
a magic carpet.

The ultraviolet rays
sing my body a warm lullaby
my hands stop worrying
at the worn threads of my mind
as goldenrod heads gently nod
in blissful agreement above me
nature doing Fellini proud
(or is it just me?)

As the day settles into the heat
the visions start to fade
but before the spell is broken
I see myself surrounded
by nun’s in old habits
collecting seeds and planting sunflowers
(I am not alone.)

My last thought of course
like a hummingbird’s sweet kiss
settles on you.

Written for my friends at Poets United seeking the extraordinary from the ordinary and my tribute to Fellini. Also shared for open link at dVerse~Poets Pub. Artwork animated by me.

Kiss Of Death

Kiss Of Death

So beautiful and rare
in death a kiss so fair
it makes the corpses jealous
their eyeless sockets stare.

An eternity in your arms
my angel wings boned bare.

Another blast from the past (something a little different) shared with Poets Untied. This is a wallpaper meant to be shared and had no artist information like most wallpapers found to share online.
