strong winds blow
tattered tarp waving-
I give up

We’re having record winds today in the Bay Area and it tore two holes in the sun worn tarp outside on the patio. No bike riding today!

Masks

Masks

We all hide behind masks
cowering from our vulnerabilities
steeped in our inabilities.
If someone catches a white lie
or a small truth
another mask is born.

When we want to look our best
with wrinkles and imperfections gone
hiding from the realities of it all
another kind of mask comes into play.

When we love someone deeply
effortlessly we slip the mask
so sweetly we part the sheets
together we discover the divine truth.

But the moment it’s revealed
we retreat back to what we know best
the mask firmly back in place.

We wear many masks during our lifetimes. How many people can you say know the real you? We don’t mean to hide but life can be very trying to say the least. Love does not guarantee that you see beneath the mask.

For The Birds

For The Birds

Dipping thieving
from the skies
frenzied feeding
hungry cries.

Crust of bread
is offered thus-
fingers bleeding
so nonplussed!

they || said so
they || are experts in every field
they || have it better than you
they || have what you want
they || know it all
they || know when you are sleeping
they || know when you’re awake
they || have it all figured out
they || always know the right words
they || always win
they || told me to do it
they || make the rules
they || are reading this now.

Unique

I like you cause you’re funny
intelligent and kind
good looking and hardworking
so distinctive, so refined.

I like you cause you’re honest
irreplaceable and rare
an exceptional type of person
the one who always cares.

I like you cause you’re different
it’s part of your mystique
you are just one of those people
so refreshingly unique.

I Know That You Know

You are special to me
and I want you to see
the love that I feel
those moments we steal
they mean oh so much
I’m craving your touch
and I know that you know
as we watch our love grow.

You are special to me
and happy we’ll be
so hold me real tight
let’s make love tonight
my daydreams of you
my love is true blue
and I know that you know
as we watch our love grow.

I Scream

I Scream

Darkness led me into sin
cause I invited Darkness in
my loneliness drove me astray
and I had thought it child’s play.

Wrapped inside his macabre wings
I heard the Darkness whispering,
”You’ll never be away from me,
with me for all eternity.”

The Darkness knew me like a glove
replacing hate where once was love
chuckling as it emptied me
drinking deep with empathy.

If I had lived the way I should
if I had stronger will I could
but Darkness won and reigns supreme
and I? I scream a mouthless scream!
